On December 4th (2 weeks after our last class) I will open the meeting for a bonus 6th session. This will be a free-style meeting for Q&A, sharing of ideas, and the opportunity to play what you've worked on for others.

About the Class

This class will be held live online and will be recorded for students to review at their convenience.

Whether you have gigs lined up, you're playing at church, or you plan to play a few tunes for your family get-together, this is the perfect time to start preparing your Christmas repertoire! Two arrangements for each tune will be provided: one more accessible arrangement for the upper-novice player and one more embellished arrangement for players at an intermediate or upper-intermediate level. My arrangements are always buildable and often encompass hand separation taught from the perspective of a right-hand-lead player. During the classes, I will also cover further embellishment techniques and arranging ideas.

Included in the price, students will receive licensed copies of sheet music for all of the materials covered. In my other online workshop offerings, I have always been limited to only covering music in the public domain. However, for this 5-week course, I will cover popular Christmas songs that are still protected under copyright. The cost of the workshop covers licensing fees required to distribute my hammered dulcimer arrangements while abiding by copyright law.

This is my first time offering a multi-week class. I am offering this introductory pricing because the format is new to me.

What songs will be covered?

Anyone who signs up on or before October 12th will receive a survey where they can vote on the 5 tunes we will cover. I'll ask everyone to rank the following tunes from "Most Interested" to "Least Interested," and then I will choose the 5 pieces with the highest scores. Tunes on the list for consideration will be: Silver Bells, Let it Snow, Do You Hear What I Hear, Holly and the Ivy (which sold out within minutes at QuaranTUNE Fall Fest),You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, Blue Christmas, Candles in the Window (the main theme from Home Alone), Last Christmas, There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays, and Chrismas Don't be Late (the Chipmunk song).

When to Expect Materials

I will send the materials out each week on Monday night starting on October 21st. The zoom link for each week will remain the same for the duration of the class, and I will send it weekly with the sheet music for that week. Each class will be recorded and the recordings will be accessible through January, 2025.
